Applicant Criteria
All application forms need to completed in full and submitted with accompanying documents.
Disabled
The applicant must have a disability that has a moderate influence on their ability to work.
Qualify for a grant
The applicant must qualify for a permanent disability grant from the Department of Social Services (SASSA).
Motivated
The applicant must be committed to, be self-motivated for, and have the endurance to attend work activities for a (8hr) day.
Competent
The applicant must be able to follow verbal instructions. Complete tasks independently after prior demonstration and identify differences between items under supervision.
Rules
The applicant and their caregivers must be able to accept the policy and procedures that govern Chris Steytler Industries.
Assistive device
The applicant must be mobile with or without an assistive device or wheelchair at work.
Personal care
The applicant must be able to function appropriately and independently when eating and taking care of their personal hygiene and self care.
Transport
The applicant must be able to get himself/herself to workshop on time - either with public transport or to arrange own private transport. (Dial-a-Ride is familiar with Chris Steytler Industries as a 'Drop -off' point).
No active addictions
The applicant must have no active addiction (e.g. marijuana, alcohol). Previous prolonged use of any substance (incl. of alcohol) must be disclosed at application level.
Level of functioning
Persons with severe anti-social behaviour, severe intellectual fall-out or extreme behavioural problems will not be considered for traineeship.
Medical treatments
All active rehabilitation (e.g. physiotherapy) must be completed and the applicants condition must be stable.
18 Years and older
Minimum age 18 years.
Documents & procedures
Chris Steytler Industries will assess the applicant's abilities and place them in the best suited position within the workshop.

All application forms need to completed in full and submitted with a copy of the applicants ID document, proof of disability (doctors report) and any other medical reports/letters relevant to the applicants disability. Appropriate candidates will be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted to arrange an on-site interview in due course.
